Frequently Asked Questions

1. Q: Can I use TNet Themes with Blocktrix?

A: Yes, however, when in Blocktrix Mode,

you will not be able to see the new specials properly

when attempting to use a TNet Theme. It is recommended

that you update the TNet theme's graphics file to include

the new Blocktrix special blocks.

2. Q: How come I don't see the 2 preview pieces, why

doesn't the rotate next piece keys work, why is the bot

mode disabled, and why doesn't piece holding work?

A: These features are only enabled in Blocktrix mode, as they

would provide an unfair advantage over other TNet Clients in

TNet mode.

3. Q: Doesn't the Extended Key Sensitivity setting provide an unfair

advantage over other TNet Clients?

A: No, this is not an unfair advantage over other clients as there is 3rd party

software that users of such clients may use to achieve the same effect.

The fact that it is built in to BTrix is only a mere convenience.

4. Q: Doesn't the Field Zoom in Feature provide an unfair advantage

over other TNet Clients?

A: Again, No, this is not an unfair advantage over other clients as there is

3rd party software that users of such clients may use to zoom in on portions

of their Windows Screen while playing, which achieves the same thing.

Not to mention, users of different screen resolutions

will see fields at different (sometimes larger) sizes

compared to other users, regardless of client being used.

The fact that it is built in to BTrix is only a mere convenience.

5. Q: Doesn't the key settings to drop a piece in the farthest possible left/right

columns provide an unfair advantage over other TNet Clients?

A: Again, No, this is not an unfair advantage over other clients as there is

3rd party software that users of such clients may use to set up macros

to achieve the same effect. The fact that it is built in to BTrix is only a

mere convenience. Nor can this be considered a cheat, as TNet is a game

that relies on keyboard input for control, and as such, is subject to tools

which manipulate keyboard controls.

6. Q: What port does the Blocktrix server listen on that I need to open up in my firewall?

A: 30777

7. Q: Why do I frequently get a "Software Caused Connection Abort" error message while

playing, and how can I prevent it?

A:

Could be one of several things.

1. Your net connection may be cutting out while you are playing

2. Your system bus may not be large enough to cope with all the data that is being sent through your system at one time. Try shutting down some other programs you have running.

3. Could be your OS without service packs that fix various problems in the OS.

4. Could be the server's connection cutting out

etc.. etc..

Try doing one or more of the following, and see if this corrects the problem:

-disable winxp's firewall

-dont use "speed patches" that supposedly increase your download speed. (note some of them effect your registry, use speed patch as your search term)

-update your router drivers/firmware. (some have said they needed to use something other than the ones supplied by the manufacturer)

-connect to the server's ip instead of domain (ie, 123.456.789.123 instead of some.domain.here)

-limit how many networks or other apps you are running

-some have the prob when idle for long periods of time. try creating a channel and using the antiidle.tcl in the scripts section

-changing NIC card

-uninstall MSN IM

-check for patches for everything from windows to the equipment you have.

-ONLY for the advanced user: look into default MTU registry values with relation to the router you use.
